At first look, SpinGenie does not appear to have had a tremendous amount of effort put into it. Aside from the plain background and rather unwieldy navigation bars, this is evident from the fact that the site description still touts it as "your favourite online casino of 2018" over half a year later.
Still, clumsy design and failure to update website text in a timely manner doesn't necessarily mean that it's a bad casino or a total loss for the player. It is owned and operated by Bear Group Ltd., who have managed to acquire the rights to build online casinos around the Slingo and Deal or No Deal names. So one would assume this is at least a competent company, right?
Let's dig deeper into SpinGenie and see what there is to find beyond the lackluster first impression.
Available Games and Software
SpinGenie has a good overall selection of games, with over 800 available as of the current count. The site does have a live casino, and also makes use of the Slingo license in a special section that has dozens of variants.
The slot collection totals over 700 and is fed by more than 10 developers including NetEnt, IGT, Yggdrasil, Quickfire, Evolution and WMS. 26 of these are progressive jackpot games including some unique choices such as Andy Capp, Romeo and Juliet, and the big pots of the various Mega Jackpots games (such as Wheel of Fortune and Cleopatra).
The table game count is a little thin at 28 total, with eight of those being video poker games. The live casino adds a dozen more options, however. "No commission" baccarat is one of the more interesting options here.
If you just fancy a quick scratcher, SpinGenie is well supplied with about 60 varieties such as Breaking Bad and Wheel of Fortune: On the Road. The Slingo section features the various Slingo tie-ins from other game categories, like Slingo Showdown video poker and the Slingo Reel Riches slot.
Deposit and Withdrawal Options
Deposits are a bit more limited than most here, requiring you to use a Visa or MasterCard / Maestro debit or credit card. Deposits by mobile phone (via a charge to your bill) are also possible, but are restricted to £30 per day and only on phone plans that allow such things.
Withdrawals can be done back to any of these cards, including eligible MasterCard and Maestro cards. Withdrawal times are fairly standard for credit cards at about three to five working days.
Safety and Security
SpinGenie is based in Alderney and is overseen by the United Kingdom Gambling Commission and the Alderney Gambling Control Commission. The third-party fairness testing and dispute resolution agency mandated by the UKGC is not disclosed.
Bonuses and Player's Club
There are matching deposit offers for new players on the first two deposits. The first deposit match is 100% up to £100, with a minimum of £10 required. The second one, also a minimum of £10, nets you 20 free spins at Starburst, Twin Spin, Gonzo’s Quest or Jack and the Beanstalk. There are wagering requirements for both of these: 50x for the first deposit and 30x any winnings for the second.
Each week, there is also a special code that you can use for some bonus spins when you meet certain wagering thresholds (i.e. wager £25 to get five free spins).
SpinGenie doesn't have a tiered player's club for the masses, but it does have a VIP program for the higher rollers. If you deposit and play enough, you may get a private invitation to accept VIP or Platinum VIP status. VIPs enjoy 10% cash back, faster withdrawals and special VIP customer service. The Platinum upgrade adds a dedicated account manager, birthday gifts and all sorts of special perks.
Is SpinGenie Worth It?
SpinGenie isn't too bad, but it doesn't really stand out in any way either. About the best thing you can say for it is that the game selection is decent and has all the big-name titles that are most popular with players. Not much efforts appears to be put into promotions or player engagement; it's all kinda just there. One gets the impression it's a back-burner project for the company.
